Microchipping

You would microchip your pet mainly to improve the chance of getting them back if they become lost or stolen.

• A shelter or veterinarian can scan the chip and contact you.
• Unlike a collar and tag, it cannot easily fall off or be removed.
• It provides permanent proof connecting you to the dog.
• Some shelters, breeders, insurers, and travel authorities may require it.

A microchip is not GPS and cannot show your dog’s location. You must register the chip and update your phone number and address whenever they change. For the best protection, use both a microchip and a collar with a visible ID tag.

Vaccinations

Our veterinarians will discuss your pet’s unique needs to determine which vaccines are most appropriate for his or her lifestyle, age, and health status. Your pet is unique and should be treated as such. Living on a tiny island, we especially recommend making sure that your pet is up to date for hurricane season. Pharmacy

Veterinary pharmacy, provides medicines and health products specifically for animals.

It may:

• Fill prescriptions written by a veterinarian
• Supply flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives
• Provide antibiotics, pain medicines, insulin, and other treatments
• Prepare specially flavored or measured medicine for a particular animal
• Explain how to give the medicine and store it safely

Some human pharmacies also fill animal prescriptions. Don’t give your pet human medicine unless a veterinarian specifically approves it—some common human drugs can be poisonous to animals.

Dental Care

Canine and feline dental disease is a treatable and preventable problem. Your pet cannot tell you how they feel or what hurts, it is up to all of us, as members of your pet’s healthcare team, to evaluate, discuss, and address this potential problem. All dental procedures in our facility receive digital radiology services to ensure the highest level of care.

General Surgery

A veterinarian who performs common operations on animals. These may include:

• Spaying and neutering
• Removing lumps, cysts, or small tumors
• Treating wounds and abscesses
• Dental extractions
• Bladder-stone removal
• Stomach or intestinal surgery
• Some basic orthopedic procedures

They also examine the animal beforehand, discuss anesthesia and risks, perform the operation, prescribe pain medicine, and manage recovery.
